StoneRidge Golf Course - One Cool Golf Escape

StoneRidge Golf CourseWhen you want to escape the blistering heat of Tucson or Phoenix and tee it up in a cooler climate, head north to StoneRidge Golf Course.

“During the summer, golf in the Valley is nothing short of HOT,” said Denise Hyland, Head Golf Professional. “StoneRidge is really just a short drive and will offer exceptional value for a cool, challenging and beautiful golf experience.”

Conveniently located off Highway 69 on the way into, or out of Prescott, StoneRidge is a unique hybrid of desert golf challenges combined with mountainous golf landscapes. “Golf’s Ultimate Thrill Ride” opened in 2002 and was quickly named to Golf Magazine’s list of “Best New Courses You Can Play”.

StoneRidge is a par-72 design that will stretch to 7,052-yards. It was crafted by Randy Heckenkemper, who studied under the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Climbing and falling like a roller coaster with more than 350 feet inelevation change throughout the course, the fairways and greens lay softly among the area’s steep canyon walls.

The front nine at StoneRidge is a superb opening set of holes, but the real excitement begins around hole 12 – a long par-3 that is framed by pockets of boulders, rocks and ridges that serve as a gallery for your targeted approach to the green – and continues in from there.

Up next, the 373-yard, 13th hole begins with a scenic elevated tee shot overlooking the fairway and green on the other side of an arroyo. From this vantage point, the entire hole, and some would say the entire Western United States, unfolds in front of you. Grab a good look at the hole; because once you’ve hit your tee shot, the green becomes partially obscured from view, thanks to sloping fairway.

Not to be out done by the previous two holes, 14 and 15 (both 4’s) will test your driving ability and accuracy. Hit the fairways here and you’re in good shape. Miss them and you’re in for a real challenge.

The 16th, a flat, reachable par-5 is like that calm stretch on a thrill ride that allows you to regain your compoure just before an amazing finish. Hole 17 is a dramatic par-3 perched on a hillside overlooking Prescott Valley and much more. From the tee you can see nearby Mingus Mountain as well as the distant snow-capped San Francisco Peaks before swerving and curving your way down to the green. The 18th at StoneRidge is a testy par-5 that measures a mere 630 yards that rolls and tumbles its way to an amphitheatre-style green setting – a fitting finish it seems to such a actionpacked back nine.

StoneRidge is now managed by Troon Golf, the world’s leading golf management, development and marketing company. It is open to daily-fee play and is a truly affordable golf course at $70 or less (depending on the season) for a round of golf.
