Arizona Ranks No. 1 for Golf and Gaming

We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro Golf ClubAccording to recent rankings released by Golfweek, Arizona is the place to visit for those looking to combine gaming and golf in a single destination.

Eight Arizona golf courses were listed among the top 50 in America by the publication in its fifth annual "Best Casino Courses" issue. We-Ko-Pa Golf Club led the charge, placing its Saguaro and Cholla courses at No. 3 and No. 10 respectively.

We-Ko-Pa is a world-class daily-fee facility located just east of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. The layouts feature dramatic views of the McDowell Mountains, Red Mountain, Four Peaks and the Superstitions. We-Ko-Pa is no stranger to acclaim. In the December issue of Golf Magazine, Senior Travel Editor Joe Passov hailed the club as a "must play" in his Hometown Favorites column.

Scottsdale's Talking Stick Golf Club also had two courses positioned in the top 50. The club's North and South courses came in at No. 14 and No. 31 respectively. A Troon Golf property, Talking Stick was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.

"Whichever course one chooses or prefers, it was our desire to portray golf in a traditional sense, which quietly merges with its tranquil desert surroundings," said the architect's of their creation.

Other courses to crack the top 50 included Southern Dunes Golf Club (20), Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail course (38), Whirlwind Golf Club's Devil's Claw course (42) and Apache Stronghold (44).

Las Vegas and Mississippi were tied for second among total number of courses within a state to make the list. Each state had seven facilities.

The complete compilation of Golfweek's "Best Casino Courses" is scheduled to appear in the publications Dec. 10-17 issue.
