Scottsdale's Gateway Tour Granted Two Nationwide Exemptions in 2011

Gateway Pro TourScottsdale, Arizona based Gateway Pro Tour announced that for the upcoming season the Gateway Pro Tour will be granted player exemptions for two Nationwide Tour events in 2011.

Playing exemptions will be offered to Gateway Pro Tour members for the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX, which will be played May 19-22 in South Carolina, and the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, which will be played June 16-19 in Kansas.

“Gateway Pro Tour strives to provide a competitive playing environment that best prepares our players to achieve their goals of playing on the PGA Tour,” Pray said. "We are excited to offer our members exemptions into these Nationwide Tour events, and we feel that this only enhances our mission of preparing our players to get to the next level.”

Gateway Pro Tour officials will be meeting later this week to determine how these two exemptions will be earned by tour members, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks. GPT officials also are currently in discussions to secure additional Nationwide Tour tournament exemptions for the 2011 season.

“These exemptions are extremely important to our players and we are working diligently on securing as many exemptions as possible for next season,” Pray said. 

Gateway Pro Tour will begin its 10th season with a two-day Sponsorship Event at Troon North, Jan. 4-5. The winner of this 36-hole event will earn paid entry fee into all 18 events for the 2011 Gateway Pro Tour Arizona Series.
