Scottsdale's OB Sports teams up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Fight against Prostate Cancer

Scottsdale’s OB Sports Management is making a difference for Dad!
Fourteen OB managed golf clubs, including four Arizona facilities, are participating in the A Dollar for Dads fundraising drive taking place this Father’s Day week (through June 20, 2010). The participating clubs will add one dollar to their normal green fees (and/or collect additional donations). That extra dollar will directly support research leading to treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.

A Dollar for Dads is a Father’s Day Prostate health awareness and fundraising initiative started by the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) that raises funds to fight prostate cancer, a disease that affects more than 2 million American men and their families. In total, 64 public and private golf courses across the country are participating with this national initiative.

“OB Sports is honored to be involved in this very worthy fundraising effort for the second year in a row,” said Phil Green, President of OB Sports Golf Management. “We are pleased that a large number of our courses are participating in this effort and are proud to be helping in a small way to raise awareness and much needed funds for a disease that affects dads, brothers, husbands and friends…more then we know.”

“Father’s Day is an important time to let our dads know how much they mean to us and others around them, making it a perfect time to raise awareness for prostate cancer and support advanced research to ensure they live long and healthy lives,” commented Chris Conway, director of golf programs for the foundation. “Too many men have been affected by this disease, yet many choose not to talk about it. Last year the event helped men talk about prostate cancer and we hope this year will be even more impactful,” added Conway.

One in six American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. In 2010, more than 196,000 new cases are projected to be diagnosed in the U.S. and more than 27,000 American men will die from it. It is the second most prevalent form of cancer for men after skin cancer.
