World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship launches Dress Ian Campaign

Ian PoulterIan Poulter finished the final round of the 2010 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship victorious, hoisting the Walter Hagen Cup wearing pink slacks, a pink sweater complemented by white shoes, belt and visor for his first victory in the United States.

In 2011, he will open his title defense by allowing fans to choose his apparel for the opening match. The first World Golf Championships event of the 2011 season tees off at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain, in Marana, Arizona, for the third-consecutive year, February 21-27, 2011.

Tournament officials, in conjunction with IJP Design, announced today that the “Dress Ian” Facebook campaign will give fans the ability to select one of three possible outfits for Poulter to wear on Wednesday, February 23rd, for his first-round match. Area students, graduates and fans of the University of Arizona and Arizona State University will have familiar color schemes to choose from as two of the options incorporate school colors into the outfits.

Fans can go to to view and vote on the outfits and can even follow links to purchase outfits at a discounted rate.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what fans choose for me to wear as I set out to defend my World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship title,” Poulter said. “Of course, I’d love to see the fans in Southern Arizona decked out in IJP Design gear as well…attempting to style their hair like mine is optional.”

“Ian Poulter has been an international ambassador to the game of golf and we are excited that he will be partnering with us for this unique promotion,” said Accenture Match Play Championship Executive Director Wade Dunagan.  “I attended the University of Arizona and have a feeling that I know which outfit I’ll be voting for.”

Poulter, currently No. 11 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) defeated fellow Englishman Paul Casey, currently No. 8 in the OWGR, 4 & 2, in the 2010 Accenture Match Play Championship final to claim his first World Golf Championships title.

The 2011 Accenture Match Play Championship will feature the top 64 players in the OWGR as of Monday, February 14, 2011.  Among the notable names who need a strong start to the 2011 season to move inside the top 64 in the OWGR are former world No. 1 Vijay Singh (No. 91), Sergio Garcia (No. 78) and 2005 Accenture Match Play champion David Toms (No. 80).

IJP DesignIJP Design

Ian Poulter launched IJP Design in July 2007, after being unable to find clothes he wanted to wear on the golf course that both looked good and performed well, combining high quality tailoring with technical perfection. IJP has created a name for itself as a high quality, unique and exciting golf and lifestyle brand with a fashionable edge and this year launches it’s 8th collection for Spring/Summer 2011.
