Central Texas About Central Texas

Your Guide to Central Texas

Just hearing the name conjures up thoughts of a big, bad state full of cowboys, cattle ranches and country songs. Texas isn’t simply a destination on the map; it’s a way of life. While golf doesn’t always garner top billing in the Lone Star state, it is becoming a force to reckon with on the national scene.

The capital city of Austin generates as much buzz through its live music scene as it does through its Longhorn football tradition. In addition to those time-honored legacies, the city was recently hailed as the best city to tee it up by a number of publications.

To the south, San Antonio’s selection of courses is a testament to the old adage that everything in fact is bigger in Texas.

From Round Rock to Killeen, the mild winters and long summers give golfers every opportunity to take full advantage of the layouts Central Texas has to offer.

The Rio Grande Valley is truly a golfer’s paradise, one of very few places in the country where the game can be played year round. Even during the warmer days of summer, golfers can count on a cooling Gulf breeze to take the edge off the heat.

The San Antonio area has some incredible golf opportunities along with some of Texas best tourist spots. The city comes alive at night along this famous stretch of the San Antonio River. But whatever you do, bring along the sticks, because there's no better place to be in Texas than on the 18th green at sunset at one of San Antonio's finest links.

Some of the courses are home to The Valero Texas Open, AT&T Championship, and FedEx Kinko’s Classic.
