Austin's Avery Ranch Renews Commitment to Course Conditions

Avery Ranch Golf ClubOver the past 18 months Austin’s Avery Ranch Golf Club, located in the northwest section of the city in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, once again renewed its commitment to excellent course conditions and amenities by undertaking a number of substantial improvement efforts. The upscale daily-fee facility added a new 12,000-square-foot practice green, giving golfers a place to chip and putt before taking to the course.

Avery also upgraded its already phenomenal finishing hole by building new raised tee boxes that will present golfers with a better view of the fairway landing area on No. 18. As you approach the 18th green, you’ll notice a sparkling three-tiered waterfall behind the putting surface. Couple the brand new waterfall with the lake bordering the left side of the fairway and Avery Ranch has one of the best and most spectacular finales in Austin.

Even prior to the improvements on No. 18, Avery Ranch was thought of as a wonderfully scenic golf experience complete with natural features like limestone caverns, live oaks, rolling hills and relaxing streams capable of soothing a golfer’s spirit in the midst of a tough round. Former Jack Nicklaus designer, Andy Raugust, has truly created an aesthetically pleasing masterpiece at Avery Ranch, and the enhancements will only serve to emphasize the beauty of his design.

The front nine at Avery Ranch has earned a reputation as the more difficult half of the course, and rightly so. After this tough stretch of holes that includes the signature 396-yard par-4 seventh, players will be in search of opportunities to make up some ground.

There will be plenty on the back nine, a risk-reward smorgasbord with three par 3s, par 4s and par 5s. Avery’s General Manager, Brent Brown, said many a low number has been shot during tournament play on the back nine thanks to the frequency of par 5s and a driveable par 4.

Avery’s has often been recognized for its on-course excellence over the years. In 2004 and 2005, Avid Golfer magazine voted Avery Ranch as the “Best Overall Course” in Austin and Golf Digest recently touted the course as one of its “Best Places to Play.”

Getting around the award-winning layout will now be more enjoyable with the introduction of a new line of state-of-the-art EZ-GO RXV golf carts, the finest in the industry. The carts come equipped with ProLink GPS technology.
