Community Growth Continues at Vaaler Creek Golf Club

Vaaler Creek Golf ClubAnother season has begun in earnest at Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, a relatively young golf course (full 18 opened July 2009) that continues to garner favorable reviews from golfers with a distinct array of memorable holes as the surrounding community takes shape.

A number of amenities will be added in the coming months including a community center, swimming pool and an open air pavilion with a capacity of about 100 people that will be located at the turn. An outdoor kitchen area will also be added, and is expected to give the food and beverage operation a considerable bump. Already in place at Vaaler Creek is a 5,500-square-foot deck built around two large live oak trees. The deck stretches out into the pond guarding the 18th green, giving onlookers the ability to watch incoming groups play the home hole. It’s already a favorite post-round spot for cold beverages and lively conversation.

Plans for a true clubhouse are also in the works. When completed, it will serve as the nerve center for operations at Vaaler Creek and offer visitors another spot to congregate. The future clubhouse will provide a backdrop for the 18th green, and a back patio will provide spectators a full view of approach shots that must cross a pond to reach the putting surface.

New construction within Rockin’ J Ranch subdivision is also expected to spike as land owners fill out their home sites. Most importantly, the scenic Hill Country golf course that serves as the centerpiece of the community will blossom as the winter rains fuel a spring/summer outburst of color.

“We’re really looking forward to this year,” said Vaaler Creek’s Director of Golf Adam Grosch. “After the wet weather conditions we experienced during the winter, we’re ready for this golf course to explode into greenness. I fully anticipate course conditions being better than they’ve ever been in the short history of this golf course. It’s going to be a phenomenal year.”

Vaaler Creek Golf Club

Featuring panoramic views extending endlessly into the distance, rustic and rolling Hill Country terrain dotted with wonderful water hazards and an assortment of oaks and magnolias, Vaaler Creek has the potential to rapidly ascend from hidden gem to “must play.” There are a variety of ways to experience Vaaler Creek, including daily-fee play, golf outings and a basic membership, which is included in all Rockin’ J Ranch Real Estate Sales.

Basic Vaaler Creek Golf Membership

Owning property within Rockin’ J Ranch is the easiest way to become a member at Vaaler Creek Golf Club; real estate sales within the development can include a basic golf membership valued at $9,900. This membership entitles golfers to three free rounds each month.

Members can extend reduced rates to their guests. These rates are discounted from non-member rates. For avid golfers whose appetite for golf calls for more than three rounds per month, Vaaler Creek offers annual rates that provide a player with unlimited green fees.

But membership at Vaaler Creek isn’t limited to property owners.

“If you don’t own a piece of land the initiation fee is $9, 900,” Grosch said. “It’s is a one-time fee, and it’s transferable. As the golf course matures, and the community as a whole matures, we expect that the membership will go up to $14,900 in the future as demand increases.

“You don’t have to come up with the entire payment right off the bat; you can finance that through the main office.”

The sixth and f nal phase of real estate development at Rockin J Ranch is being approved in March and sales are expected to flourish through the last phase, so the time available to become a property owner and member at Vaaler Creek is nearing an end. For more information on membership, visit

“Five years from now, it’s going to be a cool place to come and play golf, and then relax after the round,” Grosch said. “We’ll have the clubhouse, pool and pavilion. You can watch it go up around you. At that point you’ll have regular games too; a men’s and women’s association.”

Tuscany Heights Condominiums

The club is currently offering special pricing on the purchase of Tuscany Heights Condominiums, which offer fantastic views of the golf course.

There are 11 units available and a variety of floor plans to choose from. A few condominiums are also reserved for outside guests, making “Stay and Play” a possibility for non-members at Vaaler Creek.

Golf at Vaaler Creek

Designed by Michael Lowry and JR Newman, Vaaler Creek Golf Club first opened as a nine-hole golf course in 2007, then expanded to a full 18 as the front nine was unveiled in July 2009. The newer front nine (3,343 yards) is significantly shorter than the more established back nine (3,521 yards). Overall, the course measures 6,864 yards with a robust slope of 140 and a rating of 73.0.

The quality, speed and undulation of Vaaler Creek’s greens are consistently mentioned when golfers are asked to identify the most striking quality of the golf course. Vaaler Creek also creates a memorable experience with well-placed bunkers, rolling topography, unique fairways (split and tiered) and a variety of visually-striking water hazards.

”None of the holes look the same,” said Grosch. “They all have their own unique qualities. And the greens stay in really good shape and they’re quick. They’ve got a significant amount of undulation and they offer a good challenge.”

The more you play at Vaaler Creek, the more chances you have to win and improve.

With the club’s frequent player program, every time players tee it up they’ll be entered in a monthly drawing for various prizes.

“Each month we draw names out of a fish bowl and give away merchandise like shoes, shirts, wedges, putters, drivers and even full sets of irons,” said Grosch. “Last month, we gave away a rescue club, two 3 woods and a pair of golf shoes. When you play here, you get rewarded.”
