The Hawk

Tucked away in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, among majestic oak trees and breathtaking vistas, a well kept secret is waiting. Oak-lined fairways, rolling terrain, and great Hill Country views are the setting at The Hawk.

The course features 18-holes that correlate with the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. The Hawk is a par 72 course that plays to 6,863 yards from the back tees and graces the natural landscape with unique and challenging hole designs suitable for beginners and experienced golfers alike.

One of the most magnificent landscapes on earth can be experienced up close and personal with a visit to Rayner Ranch. “Golfers are coming to this area from San Antonio, Austin, and the surrounding areas to enjoy a round of golf in the Hill Country,” says Kevin Menie, General Manager, “most people find themselves in masterplanned communities with views of nothing more than hundreds of new homes. Golfers enjoy Rayner Ranch because it is the only place that truly embraces the Hill Country as it should be.”

The best part isn’t just the views from the tee boxes or the friendly, true-to-Texas atmosphere, but the incredible value that The Hawk offers for the complete golf experience. “The Ranch,” as the course is affectionately called by the regular patrons, offers golfers of all levels a great course at one of the lowest fees in the area. With green fees starting at just $16 on weekdays, The Hawk goes above and beyond giving golfers more for their money.

“The Ranch” is a full service and customer-oriented experience. The Pro Shop at The Hawk offers a variety of golf products, equipment, and apparel, as well as knowldgeable staff who can help coordinate tournaments or assist with special requests. The Pro Shop is located in the Clubhouse, which is perched on top of a hill overlooking Holes 1, 2, 10 and 18 on one side and an unobstructed view of the Hill Country on the other side. Golfers can end their round on the peaceful outdoor patio at the 19th hole bar & grill or inside the clubhouse, boasting a full wet bar and relaxing atmosphere set in 19th century ranch style surroundings.

The 19th hole, “Rayner’s Pub”, sports a large screen television for the big games, including Monday Night Football. With a great selection of liquor, beer, and soft drinks, the restaurant menu is also available in the pub.

A popular tradition at the clubhouse, the “2 for 1 Burger Days” every Friday from noon to 7:00 p.m. is a hit with both golfers and non-golfers alike. Old and new friends alike mingling on the outdoor patio by the pool, enjoying great food and cold drinks at an affordable price. It’s a great place to wind down after a hard day at work or a hard day on the course; the service is professional and friendly, yet still provides a relaxed “out-of-the-big-city” atmosphere.

Another tradition at The Hawk is the weekly “Old Creakers Tournament”. The tournament is played every Tuesday using Stableford Scoring. Creakers tee off from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The entry fee is $5 per person, plus green fees, and $2 for closest to the pin.

The course is also host to several holiday and special event tournaments throughout the year and is available for corporate events. Private and group lessons may also be arranged, and various clinics are held each month.

The Hawk is just a short drive from San Antonio. Take Highway 281 N. from Loop 410 or I-10. Turn right on Rebecca Creek Road just four minutes north of the Guadalupe River Bridge (look for the large golf ball). The Clubhouse is three miles down on the right.
