Texas Golf Hall of Fame to Exhibit Golf's Greatest Trophies

A replica of the Claret Jug will be on display at the Texas Golf Hall of FameSAN ANTONIO, Texas - Golf fans passing through Texas will have a historic opportunity to catch of glimpse of the game's most prestigious trophies.

To celebrate the opening of the new Texas Golf Hall of Fame and induction of the 2010 class, the original Wanamaker Trophy (PGA Championship) and exact replicas from The Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and Ryder Cup will be on display at San Antonio's Brackenridge Park.

Also exhibited will be trophies from the Texas Open, the State Junior Championship, the Texas State Amateur, and the Joe Black Cup. 

From the conclusion of the Ryder Cup in Wales on Oct. 5 to the completion of the Champions Tour’s  AT&T Championship at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio on Oct. 31, the trophies will be on exhibit at “Old Brack” for public viewing.

The public can have photographs taken with the trophies for a $20 donation to the Hall of Fame.
 
“We are thankful and delighted that The PGA of America helped coordinate this event with the Augusta National Golf Club, the United States Golf Association and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland," said Buddy Cook, chairman of the Hall of Fame's Board of Directors. "All have agreed to loan us these magnificent trophies to help kick off our new Hall of Fame and the induction event.  This is truly a rare opportunity for Texas golf lovers to be up close to these great trophies – all in one location – and to be photographed with them. Where better than at ‘Old Brack’ as part of our first induction ceremony.”

The first class since 1996 will be inducted into the venerable Hall of Fame on Oct. 25, 2010. The public recently voted for that class through the Hall’s recently released website. Tickets for the induction event are available by contacting the Texas Golf Hall of Fame.

In addition to public exhibits at Brackenridge Park Golf Course during October, the Texas Golf Hall of Fame will hold viewings for the public at the AT&T Championship and its Pro-Am Party, and at receptions at various local events during the month, including an event at The First Tee of San Antonio. 

Proceeds from the events will benefit the Texas Golf Hall of Fame and The First Tee of San Antonio.
