The Valero Texas Open, May 13th-16th

The Valero Texas Open, May 13th-16thThe Valero Texas Open tees off at a new venue for the first time in fifteen years at TPC San Antonio. The JW Marriott & TPC Courses will offer an amazing spectacle… beautiful views, tasty restaurants, incredible local art and the latest technology. And the Valero Texas Open will offer an “Unapologetically Texan” twist to tournament week that you’ll be sure to enjoy.

The new layout has given Golf San Antonio the chance to introduce some fantastic updates to the tournament. Spectators will enter through a newly designed entry called Fan Fest, which puts you in the heart of the action. In Fan Fest, you can visit an on-site Valero Corner Store and stock up on your favorite Fresh Choice or Pepsi products.

You’ll then stroll through our covered, open-air “market” where you can entertain yourself with fun and games, receive freebies from our sponsors, or shop at the TPC San Antonio souvenir store. Fan Fest will also boast interactive exhibits from Ford, Pepsi, The First Tee, the U.S. Military and Kodak. You will also find our animal petting area, engage in a friendly game of horseshoes or washer pitching at the Horseshoe & Washer pitching court. You will also find great food and thirst-quenching beverages at our nearby food sheds.

Just a short walk from Fan Fest, you’ll find the “Bud Light” Backyard; one of the happening places during tournament week. Centrally located between the 18th and 10th fairways, the 16th green and the 17th tee box, you’ll find savory offerings at food sheds serving Rudy’s BBQ and El Papalote. Or visit the Gentleman Jack’s Saloon which will be open to the public with both indoor and outdoor seating. Filled with grand oak trees and the spacious Pepsi Music Pavilion, The Backyard offers plenty of seating and shade.

During the day, the Pepsi Music Pavilion will be a wonderful place to have lunch, watch golf and hang out. At night, it will transform into an entertainment hotspot as the Pepsi Concert Series presented by Bud Light brings great Texas music to the Pepsi Music Pavilion and the Bud Light stage. There will be live music following play on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night; featuring Robert Earl Keen kicking off the fun on Thursday night, followed by Kevin Fowler on Friday and Wade Bowen on Saturday.

Saturday is also Armed Forces Day presented by USAA and spectators can attend an action-filled Armed Forces Day celebration immediately following play and prior to the WadeBowen show, all in The Backyard.

Throughout the week, the Valero Texas Open and Military Appreciation Sponsor USAA will honor active duty, retired and wounded soldiers and their families. There will also be hospitality opportunities for wounded warriors and active duty personnel and their families thanks to the generosity of USAA and Humana Military.

The Valero Texas Open also will have a full day of fun geared towards kids and family on Saturday, May 15. The annual Aquafina Family Fiesta Day will take place on-site at the J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. It gives kids the chance to be loud, laugh and learn throughout the day with trick artists, interactive games and performances.
