George Dunne National To Host Conservation Cup

Forest Preserve District of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and legendary golfer Billy Casper will tee off the inaugural Conservation Cup Golf Outing sponsored by the Forest Preserve Foundation on Thursday, September 13, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the George Dunne National Golf Course in Oak Forest, Ill.

The Cup will raise funds to expand educational and outdoor adventure activities for disadvantaged children in the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, the first and largest forest preserve system in the U.S. The $300 per player or $1,000 per team entry fee includes green and cart fees, lunch, on-course prizes, dinner, drinks, and silent and live auctions.

President Preckwinkle and Casper will deliver opening remarks before the 1 p.m. shotgun start, and Casper will offer tips to golfers, sign autographs and take photos. Both will attend the awards dinner.

"We're ecstatic Billy Casper will be at George Dunne for this inaugural event," President Preckwinkle stated. "I've always believed that the Forest Preserves are the gem of Cook County, and we are committed to enabling at least 2,000 more children to experience the natural treasure right in their own backyard., This tournament, and the ongoing support of the Forest Preserve Foundation, will make it possible to realize this goal."

"I always enjoy returning to the Chicago area," says Casper, a member of the PGA and World Golf Hall of Fame. The Masters and two-time U.S. Open champion has 51 PGA TOUR victories and is a four-time champion of the Western Open in Chicago. "An initiative such as this that helps young people experience nature first-hand deserves our support.
