Fans Vote Fowler Top PGA Tour Player For May

Rickie Fowler

Wells Fargo Championship winner Rickie Fowler was voted May’s PGA Tour Player of the Month, based on fan voting.

After winning the first event of the month at Quail Hollow, Fowler tied for second in the Players Championship on May 13 and tied for fifth in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on May 27.

Matt Kuchar finished second in voting followed by Jason Duffner and Zach Johnson.

Fowler followed up his strong May with a forgettable start this month, firing an 84 (the worst round of his PGA Tour career) in the final round of the Memorial on June 3.

The 23-year-old took the poor round in stride.

“I’m going to have a lot of Sundays from now on,” he said. “I’ve had some bad ones, I’ve had some good ones and it’s not going to be the last bad one.”

Fowler is ranked No. 9 on the money list this season with $2,692,753 earned. He is ranked fourth on the PGA Tour in total driving. He is 10th in the FedExCup standings with 1,169 points.
