HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Sea Pines Resort, home of the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage, will host the “Els for Autism Golf Challenge” benefiting the Els for Autism Foundation on Harbour Town Golf Links, Sept. 10.

Spearheaded by PGA Tour player Ernie Els and his wife Liezl, the Els for Autism Foundation helps children worldwide living with the disorder. It funds scientific research aimed at understanding Autism and developing knowledge-based treatments with the intention of finding a cure.

Additionally, it funds “Centers of Excellence” featuring educational programs for students ages under the age of 21, doctor services and continuing services for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Golf Challenge is the largest charity-driven international golf tournament in history. In 2011, the inaugural series received phenomenal support with over 1700 golfers, 8500 donors and in excess of $1.8 million contributed. In 2012, the 30-event series kicked off in April and culminates Oct.19-20 at the Grand Finale in Las Vegas.

Participating two-person teams can reach the Grand Finale with the low net winning score on Harbour Town or raising $10,000 and qualifying automatically.

Golfers receive an Els for Autism gift bag, box lunch, use of Harbour Town’s practice facilities, locker room access, cocktail reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres and an awards presentation in the clubhouse.

Registration is $600 per player.
