Professional golfer Louis Oosthuizen debuted his new custom BENT Mela-Lens SA sunglasses from Sundog Eyewear last week at the British Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

The sunglasses feature a flag of his native South Africa on the temples of his white BENT Mela-Lens model. They will be available in early 2013.

"The Open Championship is the game's most prestigious tournament," said Oosthuizen. "I am very proud to represent South Africa in the 141st playing of this historic event - and it was great that my sponsor Sundog Eyewear was able to bring my vision of this special style to reality in time for one of my favourite tournaments!"

Oosthuizen has seven international victories including the 2010 Open; the 2012 Maybank Malaysian Open and African Open; and second-place at the 2012 Masters. At Augusta National, he became the first player to record an Albatross 2 on the 575-yard second hole, sinking a four iron shot from an astounding 253 yards. It was only the fourth Albatross in Masters history and the first to be televised.

On and off the golf course, Oothuizen's sunglasses of choice are Sundog Eyewear Mela-Lens.

"Mela" is an abbreviation for Melanin, a naturally produced pigment that acts as a sunscreen protecting the skin from High Energy Visible light or "blue" light. Sundog Eyewear has created the Sundog Mela-Lens lines utilizing synthetic melanin to produce state-of-the-art melanin lens technology. Mela-Lens absorbs light seamlessly over a broad spectral range providing superior blue light filtration with minimal color distortion, 100 per cent UVA/B protection and soothing comfort.

The 2012 Sundog Eyewear line features 12 new models and the Paula Creamer Collection; Mike Weir's Weir Golf Signature Series; Mela-Lens Polarized and Mela-Lens Photochromic™ models; and the complete Core Golf line.
