Print E-mail

Eidolon GolfEidolon Golf is putting its V-Sole wedges where its mouth is by giving away a free wedge each week to the consumer whose online question is answered by Eidolon Golf's President and Founder Terry Koehler on his popular blog at www.TheWedgeGuy.com.

Readers are invited to ask The Wedge Guy their own questions about the short game, equipment or anything else in golf, and have their question considered for the Tuesday column.

"Golfers are very sophisticated and can't get enough information," said Koehler, a 30-year industry veteran and former director of marketing for the Ben Hogan Company. "At TheWedgeGuy.com, my goal is to provide candid answers to their questions, and lend my insight to their golf challenges."

I have parkinson disease and my short game is going to hell....should I try to use a stiff shaft on my wedge or go for more flex? Same for putting a heavier ? or lighter weight?......my motto...I have parkinson.....what is your handicap?

I am a 13 handicap, and have been struggling with my shots 50 yards and in. I get confused to which type of shot to hit or how to hit the right shot. Typically I use two methods. I'll either set my hands, letting my hands and wrists set, make a turn with my shoulders and turn back to the target, leading with my chest, keeping my wrist set so the back of my hand is facing the target, not letting the club face turn over. This tends to give me a high ball flight. The second is more of an arm swing, keeping my wrists and hands stay set. Using this method, I feel as though I don't have as much control of the ball and lack of "feel". Do you have any recommendations, corrections, or rules of thumb for chipping into the green?

A few years ago, I used to hear a lot about "frequency matching" shafts throughout every club in your bag. I don't hear much about this anymore. Is there any validity to this technology, do you think it improve shot pattern and consistency like they claimed it would??

For distance control of a wedge, which arm should control the shot? Or should they have an equal play in the shot?

Do groove sharpening tools return the zip-ability of seasoned wedges?

Do you find it more important to carry a variety of wedges in your bag, or to learn use just two (by choking up and taking 1/2 to 3/4 swings)? Thanks. r/chuck collins
