TaylorMade R9 Driver: Totally Optimize You

If it's not at the very top of the list, TaylorMade's new R9 Driver is certainly among a small group of the most anticipated equipment offerings of 2009.

Called the most advanced and finest performing driver in the history of golf club design by TaylorMade, the R9 will feature full adjustability in that it will combine three moveable weights with the company's newest technology - Flight Control Technology (FCT). 

The club is widely-considered to be the most adjustable and customizable driver ever. The TaylorMade R9 can adjust to your game by offering user-configurable center of gravity, face angle, loft and lie, giving you up to 75 yards of side-to-side adjustability - enough to correct even the nastiest of slices. Ball flight can be manipulated by opening or closing the club head into eight different positions by adjusting the shaft tip. The three weights combined with the adjustable shaft give players 24 possible ways to alter ball flight, prompting some to hail the club as "24 drivers in one."

The club is expected to be available at golf retail locations in mid-March and will be priced at $399.

Even in a difficult consumer climate, TaylorMade expects that its newest driver will be a product that's too good to pass up. They believe the R9 can be classified as a category-changing product that will surpass the condition of the economy because it really does change the game for players and it's a sought-after commodity.

The club's head size is similar to the size of the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad, but not as large as the less expensive TaylorMade Burner. The stock shaft on it will be Fujikura's brand new Tour platform called "Motore." It will be the only club in the market with Motore in the stock offering.

PGA Tour players have already experienced success using the R9. With the state-of-the art driver in his bag for the first time, Pat Perez captured his first ever PGA Tour victory by winning the Bob Hope Classic.

"I'm telling you, it's the best driver I've ever hit," he said. "And I've tried a lot of them."
