2009 U.S. Senior Open Announces Military Family Days Free Admission During Practice Rounds

2009 U.S. Senior OpenCARMEL, Ind. – The 2009 U.S. Senior Open and the United States Golf Association Grants and Fellowship Department, will honor the contingent of military in Indiana and around the country by hosting Military Family Days during Championship Week Practice Rounds Monday, July 27 – Wednesday, July 29 at Crooked Stick Golf Club. 

All military personnel, both active and retired and with proper identification, will receive free admission during Practice Rounds along with a 20 percent discount coupon valid in the merchandise tent for themselves and their families. 

“Crooked Stick and the U.S. Senior Open are proud to host servicemen and servicewomen throughout the country," said Steve Baker and Tom Buck, championship general co-chairmen. "Through this promotion we can show our support and appreciation for our retired and active duty military personnel by offering them the opportunity to experience a first-class major golf championship at The Stick.”

In addition to this promotion, individuals with a valid military ID are eligible to receive a 50 percent discount on all championship rounds, Thursday, July 30 – Sunday, August 2.  Discounted ticket prices for championship rounds will be $20 (normally $40).  Tickets may be purchased only during championship week at the main entrance.

Championship Week Special Events:                                                                                                 

- Monday, July 27 - First Practice Round

- Tuesday, July 28 - Second Practice Round, Fuzzy Zoeller exhibition at 2:00 p.m. on the Driving Range

- Wednesday, July 29 - Final Practice Round, Military Family Day

- Thursday, July 30 - First Championship Round, Players tee of No. 1 and No. 10 throughout the day

- Friday, July 30 - Second Championship Round, Players tee of No. 1 and No. 10 throughout the day. Field is cut to low 60 and ties plus anyone within 10 strokes of the leader.

- Saturday, August 1 - Third Championship Round, Players tee off No. 1

- Sunday, August 2 - Final Championship Round, Players tee off No. 1, Francis D. Ouimet Trophy Presentation
