The LPGA Tour is returning to Southwest Florida. In a big way.
More than 10 years after the area's last LPGA event folded,
Chicago-based investment firm CME Group is prepared to bring the
historic, recently revived Titleholders to TwinEagles in North Naples in
November 2012.
The event's likely relocation was first reported by Golfweek magazine
Thursday but has not been finalized, said Anthony Solomon, executive
vice president of The Ronto Group in Naples, which owns TwinEagles.

Charitable event hosted by NBA All Star Mark Eaton and Brian Hymel tees off August 26, 2011
The Rees Jones-designed Victory Ranch Club in Park City, Utah is set to host the Mark Eaton Celebrity Golf Classic on August 26, 2011. Hosted by NBA All Star Mark Eaton and Brian Hymel, this signature event raises much needed funds for charities that go above and beyond serving public interest. The tournament features a day of golf on what has been honored as one of the “Best New Courses in The Country”, by Golfweek Magazine, along with a post round Million Dollar Hole in One shootout.
During the 2009 event, Jason Hargett, from Springville, Utah, hit a nine iron, 150 yards into the cup to win the $1 million dollar prize. This hole-in-one made news in every major city in the United States and even made international news. Jason was also the play of the day on ESPN, was on the CBS Early Show and made a guest appearance on the Ellen Show.

--New program added in addition to popular Family Tee program and Special Rates after 2pm
KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – Continuing its ongoing efforts to develop innovative ways to grow the game of golf, Kiawah Island Golf Resort is testing a new program this summer to target three hours or less for a round of golf. From July 9, 2011 to August 31, 2011, the resort will set aside tee times on its courses for singles, twosomes and threesomes with the goal for golfers to finish their 18-hole round in less than three hours.
“One of the major challenges that keeps many golfers off the course is the amount of time it takes to play 18 holes,” said Brian Gerard, Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Director of Golf. “In response, we’ve developed this test program aimed at getting players around the course in less than three hours. We have set aside either the first times in the morning or reserved early afternoon times for players starting at 12:30pm to allow for quick play. The resort is asking that players who feel they will not be able to meet this target time to book tee times outside the “Three Hour Golf” timeframe.”

What’s in a number one? In college football it’s huge. In college basketball it’s meaningful yet not all that important. When it comes to professional golf, being number one means, well, pretty much absolutely zero.
Honestly, raise your hand if you think Lee Westwood is currently the best player in the world or even playing the best golf at this particular moment. Prior to yesterday, keep your hand up if you actually thought Martin Kaymer was the world’s most dominant or would hold that distinction long enough to have a nice plaque made to commemorate it.
