Do you have trouble placing the ball at a proper position when hitting out of a fairway bunker? Would you like to learn a new technique off the tee? Or are you a beginner looking to learn a proper swing?Take advantage of PGA Free Lesson Month this May

Next month you’ll have the chance to pick up a valuable pointer or two from a knowledgeable professional in your area, and it won’t cost you a thing.

In an effort to increase participation and create greater interest in the game of golf, PGA Professionals will be offering free 10-minute lessons throughout the month of May.

The program, which is in its 11th year of existence, resulted in more than 115,000 lessons given by more than 6,500 PGA Professionals last May. This year about 7,500 PGA Professionals are expected to provide instruction.

While 10-minute teaching sessions won’t allow a golfer to completely revamp his or her game, the lessons are ideal for beginners looking for a casual introduction to the game, more advanced players hoping to focus on a specific area or golfers wondering if spending time with a certified instructor would be beneficial to their game.

To find participating instructors in your area, simply log onto www.playgolfamerica.com and select PGA Free Lesson Month from the menu located on the left side of the screen. From there you’ll be prompted to enter your five-digit zip code and desired travel distance in order to locate a participating professional in your area. Then contact the professional of your choice and set up a time to receive your free lesson.
Here in Hilton Head, there are 16 participating instructors within only a 10-mile radius.

Some courses will be offering specific dates and will be hosting clinics or demonstrations during the month of May as part of the initiative.

In addition to getting a free golf lesson, every golfer who takes a free lesson and turns in their PGA Free Lesson Card will be entered for a chance to win a Grand-Prize sweepstakes package, which includes a three-day/two-night golf getaway to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., including round-trip economy airfare, hotel accommodations and a custom-fit set of Nike golf clubs.

PGA Free Lesson Month is part of the national growth-of-the-game campaign and a joint partnership between the PGA of America, Golf Digest, Golf for Women, Golf World and The Golf Channel. Nike Golf is the official sweepstakes sponsor.
