The Resort at Squaw CreekOLYMPIC VALLEY, California - The history contained within the Squaw Valley runs as deep as the snowpack, which can amount to depths of 200 inches.

As the host of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games, Squaw Valley ushered in a new era in North American skiing, especially in California and the surrounding Lake Tahoe area.

That year was the first time the Winter Olympics had come to the Western United States and it was the first time the games were broadcast on live television.

Today the Valley continues to be a mecca for Big Mountain skiing and is one of the most high-concept areas for winter sports in the United States. The area's rich history and tradition may only be overshadowed by the absolute splendor one witnesses here.

Located at the base of the Squaw Valley is a world-class facility with all of the modern amenities and more that serves as the perfect spot to experience everything the area has to offer.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is nestled at the base of a horseshoe formed by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is just minutes from California's North Lake Tahoe. Having just completed a $53 million dollar renovation, this AAA Four-Diamond resort has never been more magnificent.

While skiing is what has made the Squaw Valley famous, there is plenty to do other than slash down the mountain when staying at the resort as activities abound in every season.

The Resort at Squaw Creek offers 405 luxury rooms and suites, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship golf course, several distinctive restaurants, extensive meeting space, exclusive boutique shopping, three outdoor swimming pools, multiple outdoor hot tubs, a luxury spa, health and fitness center and a supervised children's program for family travel titled "Mountain Buddies." Of course, if you come to the Squaw Valley to ski, The Resort at Squaw Creek has an exclusive on-property chair lift during the winter accessing Squaw Valley USA's world-class ski terrain.

The 18-hole championship golf course is a unique experience in the Lake Tahoe area. The scenic, links-style course is surrounded by mountain peaks and filled with meadow-like grasses to give it a different feel from some of the alpine golf settings dotting the region.

RTJ Jr., designed the course to preserve the unique beauty, natural wetlands and wildlife habitat of the Squaw Valley. The spectacular result is a natural golf course that blends with its beautiful mountain surroundings.

The resort's commitment to promoting a high-quality, environmentally conscious golf course earned the golf course the distinction as a Audubon International Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. This means we use the most ecologically sound maintenance practices to ensure a safe haven for both people and wildlife. We do not use any pesticides and only a minimal amount of organic-based fertilizer.

The resort course isn't tremendously long but still provides a challenge for beginners and scratch handicappers.

There are currently some great golf packages being offered at The Resort at Squaw Creek, including a great deal just in time for Father's Day.

The Father's Day room, round and al Fresco dining package includes nightly room accommodations, lunch for two adults at the Oasis Pool Bar and a round of golf.

Hole No. 6 at The Resort at Squaw Creek If you can't make it to the Squaw Valley in time for Father's Day, the resort is offering two other outstanding golf packages that are available all summer long.

The unlimited golf package is ideal for the avid golfer and includes: night accommodations, unlimited rounds of golf for two adults, a dozen resort logoed balls per person and a $100 per day, per room dining credit.

The Putt ‘n' Pamper package is a great way to play and relax this summer. The package consists of nightly room accommodations, unlimited rounds of golf for two and guests' choice of either a 50-minute massage, facial or body treatment.

Other summer recreation opportunities include fly fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, tennis and swimming.

Your experience at The Resort at Squaw Creek will only be magnified by the demeanor and attention to detail of the friendly and professional staff. The hospitality certainly makes you feel welcome.

If you're looking to host a group outing, the resort has magnificent and ultra-modern meeting facilities. The conference center offers twenty-four conference rooms, 33,000 square feet of indoor meeting spaces, 14,750 square feet of outdoor function space. Indoor meeting facilities include the 9,525-square-foot Grand Sierra Ballroom and the 5,200-square-foot Alpine Ballroom. The resort has hosted big-time clients like the San Francisco Forty-Niners, who annually visit Squaw Creek for team functions.

In addition to all of the recreational activities, meeting facilities and dining choices, The Resort at Squaw Creek has its own boutique shopping promenade. Here you'll find jewelry, fine art, designer fashions, sporting equipment, kids clothing and today, and much more - all within steps of your room.

The Resort at Squaw Creek is conveniently located 42 miles west of the Reno/Tahoe International Airport, 200 miles east of San Francisco and 100 miles east of Sacramento via Interstate 80 with access to Highway 89 south.
