Foley recorded 11 birdies in the first round and never looked back. He found himself atop the leaderboard after each round, going wire-to-wire to claim his most prestigious victory to date. "This is definitely the biggest thing on my resume," Foley, who is a two-time All-American at PSU, told the Johnston Tribue-Democrat on Sunday. "I had a decent college season. I was coming off a pretty good stretch, and I was pleased with the way my game was going. But it was nothing real big. "To be short and simple this was the best tournament I have ever played in," he added. "To play with the most elite, it feels good to sit on top." Foley finished with a 2-under-par round of 68 Sunday, good enough for a four-day total of 267, just one stroke off the all-time tournament record. Savannah, Ga., golfer Briann Harman was five shots off the pace set by Foley at 8-under-par. Fowler, the two-time defending champion who will be in the field for the 109th U.S. Open this week at Bethpage Black, was six shots back.
Fowler was one of four U.S Open qualifiers who played in the Sunnehanna. Cameron Tringale, Drew Weaver and Ben Martin were the others. The tournament was played at Sunnehanna Country Club, an A.W. Tillinghast design. Past champions of the event include Lucas Glover, Scott Verplank, Brad Faxon, Jodie Mudd, John Cook and Ben Crenshaw. Final Leaderboard
