Els, Donald, Kuchar to play in RBC Heritage

Three RBC Ambassadors have committed to play this year’s RBC Heritage. Ernie Els, Luke Donald and Matt Kuchar will be playing in the 45th annual event, taking place April 15-21, 2013 over the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. Canadians Stephen Ames, Graham DeLaet, David Hearn and Mike Weir will also be competing.

They will be joined by other PGA TOUR Professionals including defending champ Carl Pettersson, KJ Choi, John Daly, Jim Furyk, Brian Gay, Martin Kaymer, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker and Boo Weekley. The entire group will be shooting for the top prize of $1,044,000 from a purse of $5,800,000.

Donald will be making his eighth appearance at the RBC Heritage. The Englishman has two-second place finishes and one third place finish at Harbour Town. He has earned five victories on the PGA TOUR and is currently ranked number 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Els has competed at Harbour Town a dozen times and has carded 7 top tens. The South African native has 19 PGA TOUR victories including two British Open wins in 2002 and 2012. Those wins have helped him earn more than $44 million.

Kuchar overcame the elements to win last week’s WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship. It was the Sea Island, Georgia resident’s fifth win on the PGA TOUR. The victory moved him into the eighth spot in the Official World Golf Rankings. He is loyal to the RBC Heritage, only missing one tournament and one cut in the last 10 years.

Ames was born in Trinidad but makes his home in Alberta, Canada. He has 4 wins on the PGA TOUR and has earned almost $20 million in his 25-year long career.   He has competed at Harbour Town 10 times and has only missed the cut in his first appearance in 2000.

DeLaet is from Saskatchewan, Canada but now lives in Boise, Idaho.   He has earned four international victories and has competed twice at Harbour Town.

Hearn was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. He has had five top ten finishes on the PGA TOUR and has had 3 career hole-in-ones during competition rounds on the Web.com Tour. He has competed twice at the RBC Heritage.

Weir was born in Ontario, Canada but now calls Sandy, Utah home. He has eight victories on the PGA TOUR including the 2003 Masters. He will be making his fifth Harbour Town appearance in April.

Daily tickets and weeklong badges for this year’s tournament are on sale online at www.rbcheritage.com or by calling the tournament office at (843) 671-2448.   The Hilton Head- Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets at their mid-island and Bluffton locations.  The Town of Bluffton Office at 20 Bridge Street is also a Ticket Outlet. North of the Broad residents can now purchase tickets at the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce at 713 Craven Street.
