Georgia natives Harman, English sign up for RBC Heritage

Two Georgia natives have committed to the RBC Heritage. Brian Harman and Harris English will be playing in the 45th annual event, taking place April 15-21, 2013 over the famed Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.
They will be joined by other PGA TOUR Professionals including defending champ Carl Pettersson, KJ Choi, Nicolas Colsaerts, John Daly, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Brian Gay, Bill Haas, Martin Kaymer, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker and Boo Weekley. The entire group will be shooting for the top prize of $1,044,000 from a purse of $5,800,000.

Savannah native Harman caught the golf world’s attention in 2012 during the second round of The Honda Classic when he shattered the course record with a 61.  He finished the tournament tied for 12th.  The University of Georgia graduate received his first Heritage exemption in 2004 and received another in 2006 after winning the 2005 Players Amateur.  In 2010, he made his first PGA TOUR start as a professional, opening with a 68 at the Wyndham Championship.  He earned the first top ten of his career with a T5 at last year’s Barclays.  He will be making his fourth start at the RBC Heritage.

English competed at Harbour Town for the first time last year and finished tied for eighth.  He followed it up with two more top tens during his rookie season.  The Valdosta, Georgia native graduated from the University of Georgia in 2011 and was a member of that year’s Walker Cup Team. He has already carded two top ten finishes this year on the PGA TOUR.
