Hilton Head Local Player Wins

Hopefully, you have heard the news that on Sunday, Kyle Stanley won the PGA Phoenix Open, overcoming an eight-stroke deficit to win in dramatic fashion. This was Kyle's 1st win on the PGA Tour and it qualifies him for the 2012 Masters. Kyle closed with a bogey-free 6-under 65, after holing a 4-foot par putt on the par-4 18th to finish 15-under 269.  This was a stroke ahead of playing partner Ben Crane and two ahead of Spencer Levin who started the day with an 8 stroke lead.

Last week, at Torrey Pines he suffered a devastating lost to Brandt Snedeker on the second playoff hole after starting the final day with a seven shot lead. This week, he played brilliantly again and wrote what many consider to be the best redemption story ever seen in golf.

At his press conference following the event he was quoted as saying; "You go from a very low point to a high point.  I'm not sure that I expected to recover this quickly....I think the biggest challenge was seeing if I could put last week behind me.  I think I did."

Kyle's win is one of the largest comebacks stories in PGA Tour History.  In a single week he experienced just about every emotion a Tour player can possibly experience. His victory brought tears of joy from his fans coast-to-coast and we look forward to seeing him once he arrives back to Berkeley Hall.
