Singh, Gainey, Appleby, Allenby to play in RBC Heritage

Four more PGA TOUR Pros have committed to the RBC Heritage.  Vijay Singh, Tommy Gainey, Stuart Appleby and Robert Allenby will be playing in the 45th annual event, taking place April 15-21, 2013 over the famed Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island.

They will be joined by other PGA TOUR Professionals including defending champ Carl Pettersson, KJ Choi, Nicolas Colsaerts, John Daly, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Brian Gay, Bill Haas, Martin Kaymer, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker and Boo Weekley. The entire group will be shooting for the top prize of $1,044,000 from a purse of $5,800,000.
Singh has 34 wins on the PGA TOUR including the 2000 Masters.  The Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida resident has earned more than $67 million during his 3 decades playing professional golf.  He ranks third in career earnings on the PGA TOUR.  Known as Fiji’s only world-class golfer, he grew up taking lessons from his father.  He has not competed at Harbour Town since 2001.
Gainey is a South Carolina native who gained notoriety when he won the Golf Channel’s Big Break VII.  He earned the nickname “Two Gloves” for wearing two golf gloves when he plays.  He won his first event on the PGA TOUR at the 2012 McGladrey Classic.  The Camden resident will be making his fifth start at the RBC Heritage.  He earned a third place finish in 2011.
Appleby has earned 9 PGA TOUR victories and earned a spot in this year’s RBC Heritage thanks to a Career Money Exemption.  The Melbourne, Australia native has competed at Harbour Town 6 times.
Allenby is also from Melbourne, Australia and still calls the city home.  He is eligible to play in the RBC Heritage this year because he was a member of the 2011 International President’s Cup Team.  He has won 4 times on the PGA TOUR and his making his tenth start at Harbour Town.
Daily tickets and weeklong badges for this year’s tournament are on sale online at or by calling the tournament office at (843) 671-2448.   The Hilton Head- Bluffton Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets at their mid-island and Bluffton locations.  The Town of Bluffton Office at 20 Bridge Street is also a Ticket Outlet. North of the Broad residents can now purchase tickets at the Beaufort Chamber of Commerce at 713 Craven Street.
