Donald Trump Buys Golf Courses Like We Buy Socks

An aerial view of Shadow Isle Golf ClubDonald Trump has many things we'd all like to have, millions of dollars and smokin' hot girlfriends half his age, and a few we wouldn't, namely his obnoxious hair. For golfers in particular, Trump is the object of much jealously because he wields a magic wand of sorts. The ultra-rich businessman has the ability to show up at Augusta National and demand a tee time and is wealthy enough to purchase luxury golf courses like you or I would a pair of socks at the local Wal-Mart, well maybe Target if we're lucky.

I was reading over the New York Post today to catch the latest Brett Favre to the Jets news and I came across an article about "The Donald" purchasing the Shadow Isle Golf Club in New Jersey for $28 million. Trump plans on renaming the course, located in Colts Neck, Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck.

Trump's portfolio includes Trump National Golf Clubs in Westchester, NY., Bedminster, NJ., and Los Angeles. His Trump International Golf Clubs are located in West Palm Beach, Canouan Island in The Grenadines, Aberdeen, Scotland and Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

You know a guy is rich when he owns golf courses in places you've never heard of. What is The Grenadines? I always thought grenadine was something you added to a mixed drink. Apparently it's a place and Trump owns it.

The Shadow Isle Golf Club was originally designed by Jerry Pate but Trump plans on commissioning one of the Fazio's to upgrade the course, and with his money he could surely afford to hire both.

According to The Post, the club initially had 100 members who joined at $200,000 a head but things went downhill because of financial problems and subsequent bad press.

"We already have a long list of people who want to join," Trump said in the article.

I'm betting Trump will bring new life to this golf course and it will be a success. Much like Trump, who himself rebounded from bankruptcy; Shadow Isle will make a strong comeback.
