NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Barefoot Resort & Golf announced that it will host the Barefoot Resort & Golf Fire Victims Pro-Am Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 27 at the Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort to assist Barefoot residents that were left homeless after the April 23rd wildfire that blew through the North Myrtle Beach community.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Barefoot Resort & Golf Fire Victims Fund to help many of the 70 residents who lost their homes in the April 23 wildfire and did not have home owner’s or renter’s insurance.
The day will begin with a buffet breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the Barefoot Clubhouse. After breakfast, a golf clinic will be held for all participants at the Barefoot Practice Facility. The 18-hole scramble tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. with all teams partnered with a local head golf professional or celebrity.
Participants will attend the awards reception in the clubhouse after golf with dinner and drinks served. A silent auction will also be held during the reception with participants having the opportunity to bid on silent auction items.
Tournament entry fees are $125 per person or $500 per foursome with participants receiving the following: a tournament gift bag; pre-tournament breakfast; lunch; dinner and drinks during the awards ceremony and silent auction and the chance to participate in long drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Hole sponsorships are also available to businesses.
“The April 23 wildfire that burned through northern Horry County impacted our entire Barefoot community,” said Mike Ross, head golf professional at Barefoot Resort & Golf. “We were fortunate to reopen the Love course on June 1 and the Fazio course on July 1, but many of our residents, whether owners or renters, have not been as lucky. Several did not have insurance, or enough insurance, and we hope to help the donations from the tournament helps replace their homes and personal belongings.”
One of Golf Digest’s “Top 100” courses, The Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort lost two bridges during the fire that connected the 12th, 13th and 14th holes. Trees and plants on the perimeter of the course experienced damage but the fairways or greens were unharmed.
