Hidden Hills Country Club occupies the highest point on the map in the Greater Jacksonville area, but that’s not the only unique aspect of the historic facility. From 1970-72 the club was home to the Greater Jacksonville Open, precursor to the modern day PLAYERS Championship, one of richest tournaments in professional golf. The course is also located next door to the Ribault Monument, which commemorates France’s early attempt at colonizing the area, only to be driven off by the Spanish.

Today Hidden Hills draws on its great tradition while providing its members with the finest amenities and a splendid 6,892-yard Arnold Palmer Signature Course. The layout was redesigned by the King in 1988, some 16 years after the last Greater Jacksonville Open was won by Tony Jacklin.

Ted Hopkins, head PGA golf professional at Hidden Hills, said the combination of constant elevation, rolling fairways and Palmer’s traditional approach make the private facility a dynamic test of every aspect of your game.

“It’s a classic Palmer course with lots of elevation changes, curves and contours in the fairways and quite a few holes where the best decision is to leave your driver in the bag,” Hopkins said. “You never really get tired of playing Hidden Hills because it requires such a variety of shots. Our greens are mostly elevated, so if you are going to get on the green, you’ll have to do it through the air. That is what makes it one of the most challenging courses in Florida.”

Palmer used the natural elevation changes to create an unforgettable, championship-caliber golf experience unmatched in natural beauty and unlike any in the state of Florida. The hills, hazards and elevated greens make it a mighty test for the low handicapper, but five sets of tees make the course enjoyable for all skill levels.

A number of membership options including full, corporate, sports/social and house make it possible for the entire family to enjoy all of the amenities offered by the club, which include golf, tennis, dining, a fully-equipped fitness center and a number of aquatic pursuits.

Hidden Hills is also unmatched in its ability to host a variety of social functions. The spacious 40,000-square-foot clubhouse has an array of meeting rooms and banquet rooms to handle just about any business activity or special occasion that comes up.

Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area 20 minutes from downtown Jacksonville, Hidden Hills is everything you would expect in a full-service, private club and more. Call or visit the club’s Web site to learn more about memberships and special event availability.
