Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation: Picture Perfect

Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation, FlThe surrounding natural wonder blends perfectly with the unequaled standard of living offered at Eagle Landing, the new 1,320-acre golf course community at OakLeaf Plantation. Presented by East West Partners, Inc., developers of the acclaimed Eagle Harbor at Fleming Island, the carefully planned community offers an array of activities and amenities including a par-72 golf course designed by renowned architect Clyde Johnston of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Also recognized for creating the much-admired course at Eagle Harbor, the award-winning architect has designed a tour de force that incorporates classic designs from around the world by some of golf’s original architects.

Johnston guarantees that the new course – which recently opened for limited play – will challenge golfers of all skill levels. Though similar to the Eagle Harbor course in its difficulty, the course at Eagle Landing offers an entirely fresh concept for the avid North Florida golfer. With six sets of tees, the course will play 3,023 from the youth tees and a challenging 7,037 from the back tees.

Eagle Landing at Oakleaf Plantation, FlEagle Landing golfers will be impressed upon arrival by the driving range alone. The 8,000-square-foot, double-ended practice area features target bunkers facing in both directions and even a lake for perfecting hits over water before it counts.

Golfers can forget about that stack of work back at the office when teeing off on the beautifully-landscaped 7,037-yard routing through pristine wetlands and conservation areas bordering the 24,000-acre Jennings State Forest. The course also features large and unique bunkers, many of which feature grass peninsulas or “noses.”

Johnston’s routing philosophy is to have golfers begin each nine easier than they finish it. Besides classic-designed holes and elevated greens, he has placed split-level fairways on doglegs at #7 and #14 for risk-reward options. The finishing holes of each nine dogleg around a common lake that’s the focal point of the clubhouse view, yet players on the two holes won’t see each other until they reach the side-by-side greens.

Eagle Landing’s course was constructed by Jacksonville’s MacCurrach Golf Construction, which has twice been named Golf Course Builder of the Year by the Golf Course Builders Association of America.
