Find Family Fun on the Course at World Golf Village's Slammer & Squire

Slammer & SquireJuly is Family Golf Month, a national program through Play Golf America, and Slammer & Squire and the PGA Tour Golf Academy at World Golf Village are offering a variety of activities for families to enjoy the game of golf – together.

Stepping away and getting out on the course may prove to be the perfect “vacation” for family members and allows for plenty of exercise and enjoyment.

Junior Practice Program

Throughout the entire month of July, juniors age 17 and under can practice on Slammer & Squire’s driving range at no charge with a paying adult.

Six at Six

Every Wednesday through September are Slammer & Squire’s “Six at Six” outings.  Pay $20 for six holes, begin at 6 p.m. and then play three extra holes at no cost to get in a nine-hole game before the sun goes down!

Family Fun Days

Every Sunday through Sept. 12, household family members can play nine holes of golf together at Slammer & Squire after 4 p.m. for $50 for one to two players or $80 for three to five players.

Take Your Kids to the Course Week

Through Sunday, July 11 is the annual “Take Your Kids to the Course Week.” Junior golfers age 17 and under can play for free at Slammer & Squire with a paying adult, offering the perfect opportunity for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts or uncles to enjoy special time on the course with youth in their family.

During “Take Your Kids to the Course Week,” the PGA Tour Golf Academy at World Golf Village will offer clinics for young golfers from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the next being for golfer ages 4-88 on Friday, July 9.  The clinic will highlight “Snag,” a perfect, fun introduction to the game of golf.

Junior Golf Camps

The PGA Tour Golf Academy at World Golf Village also will offer its annual Junior Camps through August 14.  The Junior Camps ensure each junior golfer is exposed to the fun of the game and an enjoyable experience.

Students can learn the game's fundamentals, correct swing fundamentals and short game techniques which will serve as a solid foundation for their golfing future.

Named for its course consultants, World Golf Hall of Fame members Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, and designed by Bobby Weed, Slammer & Squire was the first golf course to open at World Golf Village in 1998.

With its clubhouse just yards from the World Golf Hall of Fame and several holes that sit in the Hall of Fame’s shadow, Slammer & Squire meanders naturally through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks and borders wetland preserves and wildlife habitat.

The 18-hole course plays 6,939 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.8 and the slope is 135. The course, along with King & Bear at World Golf Village, is owned and operated by Honours Golf.

World Golf Village’s PGA Tour Golf Academy, open since 2002, offers private lessons, clinics, golf schools and group instructional programs for adults and children, beginners to advanced players.

Situated in the shadow of the World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village and next to a Hall of Fame member-designed golf course, the Academy is the flagship teaching facility to carry the PGA Tour name.
