Ginn Sur Mer Classic to Feature 11 PGA Tour Winners

Defending Champion Daniel ChopraThis year marks the first time that The Ginn Sur Mer Classic will be played at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course. It's also the first time the PGA Tour will make two trips to Florida's Palm Coast in the same calendar year.

The Ginn Sur Mer Classic at The Conservatory, a PGA Tour Fall Series event, will be played Oct. 27 - Nov. 2 and will serve as a complement to the PLAYERS Championship, one of the premier events on the PGA Tour annually played at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Despite its status as a Fall Series event, which don't typically feature the deep fields expected during the PGA Tour's regular season, The Gin Sur Mer Classic has already picked up some top players.

Among the list of committed players are a group of 2008 PGA Tour winners, past and present Ryder Cup players and other household names. Last year's inaugural Ginn Classic champion Daniel Chopra will be back to defend his title. Joining him will be 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson and 2008 Ryder Cup hero J.B. Holmes.

Aside from Chopra and Holmes, who won the Mercedes-Benz Championshp and FBR Open respectively, the field will feature nine other 2008 PGA Tour event winners: Sean O'Hair (PODS Championship), Ryuji Imada (AT&T Classic), Brian Gay (Mayakoba Golf Classic), Greg Kraft (Puerto Rico Open), Richard S. Johnson (U.S. Bank Championship), D.J. Trahan (Bob Hope Chrysler Classic), Chez Reavie (RBC Canadian Open), Carl Petterson (Wyndham Championship) and this month's Viking Classic champion, Will MacKenzie.

The early field also includes past Ryder Cup players Mark Calcavecchia, Lee Janzen, Chris DiMarco, Chris Riley, J.J. Henry, Vaughn Taylor and Jesper Parnevik.

The Ginn Classic has given its sponsor exemptions to Brad Hauer, Director of Golf at the Conservatory, and 18-year-old Palm Coast resident and Florida State freshman Wesley Graham, the top-ranked junior golfer in the United States last summer. Graham has never played in a PGA Tour event.

Ginn Classic tournament week is comprised of the popular Ginn Classic Pro-Am on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and the ensuing four days of competition (Thursday-Sunday) at the par-72, 7,663-yard Conservatory. Saturday's third round will be themed Floriday-Georgia Day as fans are encouraged to show their support for their team in this year's SEC football classic.

The $4.6 million tournament will be televised all four days on Golf Channel from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.
