Patriot Golf Day City-Wide Closest To The Pin Championship Set

The Northern Chapter of the North Florida Section PGA will participate in the third annual Patriot Golf Days Aug. 31 through Sept. 3 in support of the Folds of Honor Foundation. During Patriot Golf Days, golfers nationwide are asked to donate a minimum of $1 to the Folds of Honor Foundation when playing their favorite local course.

In addition, more than 200 PGA professionals of the Northern Chapter PGA, headed by president and Patriot Award winner Jack Aschenbach, will host the third annual Patriot Golf Day City-Wide Closest To The Pin Championship.

To participate, all you have to do is make a $5 donation when checking in for your round at your favorite local course.

The golf staff will hand you the rules of the contest and off you go.

The winners of each club championship will receive a prize and the chance to represent that club in the “Champions Shootout” set for Sept. 20 at TPC Sawgrass. The winner of that event will be crowned Jacksonville champion.

The Folds of Honor Foundation provides post-secondary educational scholarships to children and spouses of military men and women killed or disabled while serving our nation. Sparked by the vision and dedication of PGA professional Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot, Patriot Golf Day has raised more than $7 million in the past four years.

In 2011, more than 4,480 PGA-staffed facilities participated in Patriot Golf Day. To date, more than 2000 scholarships have been awarded by the Folds of Honor Foundation.

More information and a list of all clubs participating will be available beginning Monday, Aug. 1 on the North Florida PGA Section website at www.nfpga.com or by writing jackaschenbach@pga.com Donations are accepted.
