Tom Keedy Elected As FSGA President

Florida State Golf AssociationTom Keedy will lead the Florida State Golf Association beginning January 1, 2010 through 2011. Keedy, 57, of Lady Lake, was elected President at the FSGA's annual meeting at the Country Club of Ocala in Ocala last month. He succeeds Tom Dudley, of Jacksonville, who served as President in 2007 and 2008.

Keedy will lead the volunteer Executive Committee in directing the association's professional staff and more than 350 volunteers who serve throughout the state. Keedy has served on the Executive Committee since 2003, two years as a Director at Large, two years as secretary-treasurer and two years as vice president. He has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1997. Keedy has been involved with the FSGA for more than 16 years.

Keedy, a Florida State graduate, was born and raised in Lake County. Professionally, Keedy has been in the insurance business for more than 33 years. He owns his own agency in Lady Lake where he currently resides with his wife Diane.

Keedy has been a tournament volunteer for USGA and FSGA events and also plays in many of the FSGA events. At Harbor Hills Country Club, he is currently the golf course committee chairman.  Keedy also has organized and successfully ran the Silver Lake Invitational for more than a decade. 

Others elected to the Executive Committee include: Palm City’s Jim Applegate as vice president; Ocala's Randy Briggs as secretary-treasurer; and Windermere’s George Roat as Director-at-Large. Bonita Springs’s Chuck Phillips and Sarasota’s Mark Leetzow were also elected as Directors-at-Large. Tom Dudley of Jacksonville will serve as the Immediate Past President.

Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida. In addition to conducting 25 championships for amateur golfers in the state, the FSGA is responsible for more than 40 qualifying tournaments for USGA National Championships and the Florida Junior Tour. The FSGA also maintains the USGA Handicap System, performs course ratings throughout Florida and assists in junior programs and scholarships.
