David P. DiFilippo: How would you assess your 2008 season?
Erica Blasberg: Up and down. Probably the best golf I’ve played on TOUR but I didn’t finish as well as I would have hoped. I do feel I’m close to a breakthrough year.

DPD: You started golfing at age 5. How important is golf is to today’s youth?
EB: Very. It will keep kids motivated and out of trouble growing up. Plus golf is everywhere and even if they don’t play professionally, it’ll be a great place for them to meet people & do business later in life.

DPD: Which period in your career do you consider to be most successful?
EB: To date, my time at the University of Arizona. Publisher’s Note (Erica was an All American in 2003 & 2004, 2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year and 2003 Pac 10 Player of the Year in her 2 years at the U of A.)

DPD: Tell me about the Erica Blasberg Corporate Challenge.
EB: I was given a blessed opportunity to make so much money and get so much fame just by playing professionally so it’s important to remember where I came from and to give back to the community...and that’s what the corporate challenge is about.

DPD: If the LPGA Tour was a stock, would you hold, buy or sell it?
EB: Hold. It’s come a long way but still has so much potential!

DPD: Why should fans come out to see the ladies?
EB: Because it’s a great TOUR and we relate to so many people (hit the ball very consistent and not unbelievably long). They should come out to see us they can see how they can compare to us. We could help the average amateur find ways to improve and not have them feel intimidated by our personalities or our game.

DPD: Other that the Wendy’s 3 Tour challenge, there are no Nevada LPGA events. The Arizona event is on life-support. Do you hope that the ladies can have a permanent presence in the Southwest?
EB: Yes. Everywhere I go people complain about there not being enough events in the region. I would love a west coast swing!

DPD: What are your goals for 2009?
EB: To take the golf that I have been playing this year and to really make 2009 a great year. Also, to get everything in my life where I want it to be before I get going into next season.

DPD: Where do you envision yourself in 5 years?
EB: Golfing and being in contention (or at least have my presence felt) at every event.
