Angel Park Golf Club & The Legacy Golf Club Offer Rich Golf Experiences in America's Playground

Angel Park Golf Club & The Legacy Golf Club Offer Rich Golf Experiences in America’s PlaygroundThere’s truly no place on earth that fuses the same diverse collection of activities into one place like Las Vegas. Gambling, dining, shopping, night life – it’s that and then some. With all these shiny objects furiously flashing like the control panel at NASA, it’s easy to overlook a day on the links, but those who pushback from the blackjack table just long enough to squeeze in a round or two will be pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of golf in Las Vegas. And no two clubs personify the virtues of Vegas golf better than Angel Park Golf Club and The Legacy Golf Club.

Angel Park Golf Club - Something for Everyone

The game of golf means different things to different people. There’s the accomplished players who play strictly by rules, plumb-bob every putt and typically get a competitive game going with their pals. There’s junior golfers learning the game through time well spent on the practice tee, and then there’s the casual golfer whose best club in the bag is the footwedge. Angel Park Golf Club graciously welcomes and accommodates every “style” of play with a heavenly assortment of experiences that compelled Las Vegas locals to name the club “Best Public Golf Course in Las Vegas” in the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Reader’s Poll for an unprecedented 13th consecutive year and a whopping 15 out of the past 16 years.

Why? For starters, Angel Park Golf Club features 36 holes of championship golf designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer (Palm Course and Mountain Course) both of which provide ample challenge for low handicappers as well as playability for not-so-low handicappers. And recently, both golf courses underwent a makeover to transform the original parkland-style layouts into modern desert-style tracks. The results are breathtaking. Not only did this project deliver an eye-catching product, it added risk/reward elements in addition to many eco-friendly benefits.

Angel Park Golf Club

More than just a place for championship golf, Angel Park offers the 12-hole Cloud Nine Short Course. Inspired by some of the most famous, or infamous, par 3s found across the globe; 9 of the 12 holes on this distinctive course are lighted for evening enjoyment. Also under the lights, Angel Park features a natural-grass 9-hole putting course as well as a sprawling newly-renovated practice facility.

“Families tend to favor the Cloud Nine Short Course; it’s playable for everyone, and they can tee it up at night,” said Greg Brockelman, Director of Golf for Angel Park. “Our larger groups definitely appreciate our transportation service. Plus, they like the flexibility that our vast facility offers. They can entertain a diverse group in one place by plugging them into whatever best suits them whether that’s a round on one of the Arnold Palmer-designed courses or a quick loop on our putting course. We get a lot of guys on a buddy trips. We get couples, we get singles, you name it. Angel Park Golf Club has something for everyone,” added Brockelman.

The Legacy Golf Club - The Closest Thing to a Sure Bet

The Legacy dealt its first hand of thrilling golf in 1989 with a layout that can best be described as a blast to play. It tips-out at 7,233 yards, allowing low handicappers to stretch their legs during a round of golf that on occasion calls for a full-throttle approach and on other times, cautious consideration. However, golf course architect Arthur Hills didn’t leave high handicappers behind. Instead, he skillfully wove several teeing options into his final design to provide an opportunity for players of all levels to enjoy a round of golf together.

The golf course starts out with a few gentleman-type holes before it heats up with two longish par 4s at numbers 3 and 4. These holes give golfers an opportunity to warm up the driver in time for the par-5 5th where birdie or better is generally realized by those who smash the ball square in the teeth. Rounding the halfway point, golfers encounter the par-3, 10th hole with its quartet of unconventional yet appropriate tee boxes: each carved into the shape of a playing card suit (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades).

Also notorious is the “Devil’s Triangle” – holes 11, 12, and 13 – a dastardly trio of exciting challenges. Eleven is a straightaway ball-striker’s par 4; 12 is a severe dogleg left with options galore and 13 is a drivable par 4 with a huge lava rock-filled arroyo running along the left side. If you’re down a few holes coming into this triple-threat, press. If you’re ahead, watch out.

The home stretch is no easy win either. The 14th plays long from the back at nearly 600 yards; 15 is a long par 3 playing nearly 230 from the back and 16 is a 470-yard par 4. Standing on the 17th tee, golfers can take a breather and switch gears by playing a few smart shots in an attempt to make birdie with the wedge instead of the driver at this short par 5. The Legacy then bids a pleasant farewell with a 383-yard going-away present at the 18th.

In addition to great golf, The Legacy has become synonymous in Las Vegas for providing country club-style services and amenities to daily-fee golfers. Golf Digest selected The Legacy as one of the “Top 10 Courses You Can Play” in Las Vegas.
Other accolades and awards include “Best Golf Course in Southern Nevada” in the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Internet poll, “Top 500 Courses to Play in America” by Golf Digest and “Best Course in Southern Nevada” in Nevada Magazine’s Reader’s Poll.

Angel Park and The Legacy take great pride in providing outstanding venues and service for a wide variety of charity golf outings, corporate golf events and competitive tournaments. Uniquely, they purchased a van and two busses so they could provide transportation for groups of various sizes. Both facilities feature comfortable and flexible clubhouses that function nicely as warm gathering places for a variety of events like tournament award banquets, corporate meetings, weddings, receptions and more. The Legacy has hosted the local U.S. Open Qualifier and several American Junior Golf Association events, where the PGA TOUR’s future stars earn their wings. And Angel Park was named “One of the Top 10 Golf Courses in the Country” for tournament services by the National Association of Golf Tournament Directors.
