El Rio Country Club

Like “Old Man River”, progress at El Rio (The River) Country Club just keeps rolling along toward its destiny as “the” place to live, and play, in the growing Mohave Valley south of Las Vegas and northwest of Phoenix.

Construction continues on a landmark 14,500-square foot Spanish mission-styled clubhouse toward a December opening. The facility will be home to a marvelous restaurant (The Terrace at El Rio) that will serve indoors, and on a covered patio for those fabulous fall days and breathtaking color changes that come with desert sunsets. The clubhouse can also handle that special occasion- banquet, golf outing, wedding reception and the like for between 140-180 guests.

Phases One and Two of the 1,600-home community are already sold out with the building of this master-planned community of Hoover Quality Homes heating up as the temperatures begin to fall. The 80 streets of the community will be named after great layouts from all 50 states.

But the key to your visit to El Rio will be the golf. The Matt Dye-designed 18-hole championship course opened on-schedule May 1st, and passed the test of its first Arizona summer with flying colors (the operative color being a gorgeous green). With four sets of tees stretching from 5,400-yards out to 7,100, the course has already proven itself extremely playable, but quite challenging to those who move back in the tee boxes.

Director of Golf Operations Greg Ellis has been ecstatic at the smoothness with which the course has opened, and excited about how his positive, friendly staff has welcomed new golfers to El Rio with a “member for a day” attitude. Head Pro Mike Madore and his pro shop crew are offering the Southwest Section PGA Golf Pass, which allows players to obtain premium starting times with reduced green fees at 25-50% off regular prices at El Rio, and many other courses in Arizona and Nevada. And El Rio is also offering a great deal through the end of December, 2006 annual memberships for only $1,900 plus cart fees or $2,400 with cart included, a savings of at least $600 depending on how much you play.
