Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2010, Unveils Prominent Addition

Las Vegas Golf Hall of FameLAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2010 inductees and the second annual Classic Pro-Am event, which takes place on Monday, June 28th at the Hall of Fame’s home course, Las Vegas National Golf Club.

Having contributed greatly to the game of golf and the Las Vegas golf community through play, volunteerism, teaching, involvement with the game through events or associations and significant donation of time or financial aid, the three deserving inductees are Charlie Baron, tournament director of the Las Vegas PGA Tour stop for 22 years; Joe Kelly, golf professional who has opened and run over a dozen local courses; and the Tournament of Champions, a pre-eminent Las Vegas event that took place here from 1953 to 1968 and drew some of the biggest names in both golf and entertainment.

In conjunction with the Classic Pro-Am, the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame will be unveiling a new exhibit honoring the Las Vegas Founders Club, a volunteer group of business leaders who operated golf tournaments in Las Vegas from 1983-2006.

Many of the Founders Club’s accomplishments, often with 2010 inductee Charlie Baron at the helm; include operating events on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour in addition to UNLV golf tournaments as well as national junior tournaments. Four official trophies from the Las Vegas Invitational and Las Vegas Senior Classic will debut as part of the Founder’s club exhibit along with other memorabilia from Las Vegas' PGA Tour event.

Each of the 2010 inductees are expected to be on hand for the official announcement during the Las Vegas Hall of Fame Classic Pro-Am on Monday, June 28th.

The event, which pairs each foursome with a professional player, is open to the public and promises to attract a who’s who of golfers.  Tickets are $575 per team and include lunch, prizes, an official shirt and more. The professional division will be playing for the John DiFloure Cup and cash.
