Six Sin City Courses Earn Top Honors from Golfweek

Shadow CreekLuxury Las Vegas links Shadow Creek and Cascata led a stable of Sin City courses recently named to Golfweek's annual listing of the best facilities to combine golf and gaming in the U.S.

Shadow Creek, a spectacular Tom Fazio course that fetches close to $500 per round, ranked No. 1 overall in the "Best Casino Courses" listing, edging Mississippi's Fallen Oak and Arizona's We-Ko-Pa (Saguaro). Cascata entered the list at No. 6.

Cascata is a visual rollercoaster carved out of the desert. The Rees Jones creation located 30 minutes from the famous Strip is a study in extravagance.

Not to be outdone, Wynn Golf Club joined its high-profile peers on the list at No. 15.

Rio Secco Golf Club, the first truly public-access facility to check into the rankings, posted up at No. 34. Another Rees Jones design, Rio Secco will host the Wendy's 3 Tour Challenge. It's also home to the tantalizing T-Mate program and the Butch Harmo School of Golf. Rio Secco is owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., but welcomes guests from all the hotels in Las Vegas-Henderson Area.

Oasis Golf Club (Palmer) ranked 37th on Golfweek's list, and Bali Hai Golf Club, an upscale course located right on the Strip, checked in at No. 49.

Overall, seven courses from the state of Nevada made Golfweek's list. Edgewood Tahoe located in Stateline was the only course outside of the Las Vegas area to make the top 50. Mississippi also had seven courses ranked. Arizona led the way with eight courses in the top 50.

To produce Golfweek’s Best Courses lists, a nationwide team of course raters, which currently boasts more than 600 evaluators, surveys more than 2,200 courses on the basis of 10 criteria, including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes. The result is an average of scores that then dictates a course’s overall ranking.

The complete compilation of Golfweek's "Best Casino Courses" is scheduled to appear in the publications Dec. 10-17 issue.
