The $27-million expenditure required to construct the 93,000-square foot facility alone creates an expectation for excellence. The clubhouse, which houses both the banquet and conference facilities, was completed in 2005 by Victor Saroki and Associates, one of Michigan’s most acclaimed architectural firms. Call it the Ritz-Carlton of West Bloomfield.

Designed by Bruce Matthews, Sr. in 1963, the Shenandoah Golf Course has two distinctive nines and features five sets of tees to accommodate players of all ability levels. The front nine has rolling terrain and narrow, challenging fairways. The back side weaves through woods and wetlands.

Perhaps the best feature of Shenandoah Banquet, Golf and Conference Center is access to all their first-rate amenities by the public. Both the semi-private golf course and banquet/conference facilities can be used by members and non-members.

Shenandoah estimates they entertain in the neighborhood of 140 weddings annually and that number is growing as information about the world-class facility circulates.

The striking Grand Ballroom is the crown jewel of the banquet facility at Shenandoah. At a size of 11,336 square feet, it can easily host parties as large as 750 people – making it one of Southeastern Michigan’s largest ballrooms. The ballroom can be easily divided into as many as three smaller spaces, each accommodating up to 250 people.

But it’s the “big room” that’s a sight to behold. One of the state’s most stunning banquet spaces, the Grand Ballroom is elegantly decorated with crystal chandeliers and beautifully patterned carpeting with sweeping picture windows that offer scenic views of the Shenandoah Golf Course. In warm weather, guests can make use of the 4,000-square-foot outdoor terrace of natural stone.

Golfers searching for a public-access course with a country club atmosphere need not search past Shenandoah. The lush landscaping present at Shenandoah Golf Course is enhanced by the quality and attention to detail that is part of the overall Shenandoah experience. The practice facilities present at Shenandoah are top notch. There is a driving range with 35 bays playing out to a rolling, landscaped range with five target greens, a short game practice area with bunkers and a putting green.

There are a number of dining options available at Shenandoah that will more than please golfers who’ve acquired an appetite after playing 9 or 18 or distinguished wedding/conference guests who may prefer a more sophisticated meal.
