94th Michigan Open Championship presented by Lincoln, The Southeastern Michigan Lincoln Dealers & DT

East Lansing, MI – The 94th Michigan Open Championship presented by Lincoln / DTE Energy will see some big changes this year as the event has a new venue and a new date. The Championship moves to The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, MI and will take place on July 11-14, 2011. The event was hosted the last two years by Orchard Lake Country Club and was held in June.  “We are thrilled to be selected by the Michigan PGA to host the 2011 and 2012 Michigan Opens,” said Jeff Stalcup, The Orchard’s head professional. “This is the state’s premier event, and our course will provide a challenging test for Michigan’s top golfers.” The Orchards Golf Club has hosted a number of Michigan PGA and Golf Association of Michigan events, and most notably was the site for the USGA 2002 National U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship won by current PGA Tour professional Ryan Moore.

The Michigan PGA is also pleased to announce that DTE Energy is the new co-sponsor of the Championship with Lincoln this year. Lincoln has sponsored the Michigan Open for the last four years. “We are proud to have DTE Energy become involved as a co-sponsor. We greatly appreciate their support and they will be a great partner with Lincoln and the Michigan PGA as we conduct this premier championship for the best players in Michigan,” said Kevin Helm, Michigan PGA Executive Director.

The Michigan Open Championship presented by Lincoln / DTE Energy will feature 156 of the best amateur and professional golfers in Michigan teeing it up at The Orchards on July 11-14, 2011.
