Boyne Resorts Receive Top Honors from Readers of Michigan Meetings + Events

The Inn at Bay HarborBoyne Mountain in Boyne Falls, Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs and The Inn at Bay Harbor, a Renaissance Golf Resort located in Bay Harbor, were all recently honored by the readers of Michigan Meetings + Events.

Boyne Mountain was voted Best Resort, Boyne Highlands was honored as Best Golf Venue, and The Inn at Bay Harbor was named Best Hotel with Meeting Space (200 guest rooms or less division). 

The Best of 2009 list was determined by a record number of reader votes from the state’s premier meeting and event professionals’ publication, Michigan Meetings + Events magazine.

Mark Homuth, Boyne’s director of group sales, accepted the awards on behalf of the resorts.

“We are very proud of our resorts, our extensive year-round offerings and the dedication of our team," he said. "For Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands and The Inn at Bay Harbor to each take home top honors, well, we couldn’t be happier.”

Best Resort winner, Boyne Mountain, was praised for its wide array of activities from skiing, splashing and sliding, to golf, tennis, hiking, biking and more. The resort’s more than 5,000-acre grounds provide endless opportunity for entertaining after the business is done.  

Boyne Highlands Resort

Boyne Highlands Resort is no stranger to the Best Golf Venue award, now a winner two consecutive years. The resort was featured on The Golf Channel’s “Big Break X: Michigan,” filmed last summer and lures guests with 72 holes of championship golf including the Heather course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the modern Arthur Hills course, The Moor and Donald Ross Memorial. 

The resort’s Scottish charm is highlighted with castle-like turrets, detailed stonework, sounds of bagpipes and equestrian facilities. Numerous accommodations and cuisine, a free par-3 course, abundant hiking and biking trails and the popular Young Americans Dinner Theatre round out the resort’s appeal.

The Donald Ross CourseThe Best Hotel with Meeting Space (200 guest rooms or less division) was awarded to The Inn at Bay Harbor. The stunning lakeside resort is positioned along the shores of Lake Michigan’s Little Traverse Bay and has made the list of the 500  World’s Best Hotels by Travel + Leisure in both 2008 and 2009 and was awarded Silver Medal Status by Golf magazine.

Michigan Meetings + Events is published four times a year by Tiger Oak Publications and is circulated to approximately 18,000 planners, suppliers and related professionals. The magazine includes essential information on a range of topics, from venues and supplier news, to tips, best practices and industry developments.
