Tullymore Golf Club Opens its New $7 Million Clubhouse

Tullymore Golf ClubSTANWOOD, MI. - Tullymore Golf Club , the award-winning Jim Engh design located at St. Ives Resort in Stanwood, Michigan will open its new $7 million clubhouse on August 22. The opening of this new clubhouse marks a major step in the development of the residential Villages of Tullymore.

The beautiful 13,000 square foot stone, glass, and wood clubhouse is the centerpiece of a new $50 million residential recreation community, which will eventually bring up to 600 new residents to the Stanwood area. The new Residence Club at Tullymore is an enclave of four gracious homesteads on the 18th fairway at Tullymore Golf Club, which includes a golfing membership at Tullymore and St. Ives. Classically styled, they're reminiscent of what a second home truly should be - complete with all the features, comforts and quality of the 21st century. From hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite counters and beautiful furnishings.

In addition, the Residence Club at Tullymore is also part of The Registry Collection. The Registry Collection program is RCI Global Vacation Networks' luxury exchange product catering to the specific needs of members and affiliates in the luxury segment. It provides members access to a global network of the very finest vacation properties and services.

Jim Nordlee, the nationally recognized architect from Archiventure Group P.C., designed the new clubhouse at Tullymore. Nordlee's credits include clubhouses for the Bay Harbor golf and yacht clubs, the clubhouse at Forest Dunes Golf Club near Grayling and the clubhouse at the Oakhurst Golf and Country Club in Oakland County. The clubhouse has full banquet capability, handsomely appointed locker rooms and a state-of the-art pro shop modeled after the award-winning shop at St. Ives.

The new developers of Tullymore, operating under the company name Mecosta LLC of Shelby Township in Metro-Detroit, bring a family touch to the new development. The principals are brothers Ronald, Richard, and Robert Marino and their uncle, Peter Ministrelli. The brothers have been part-time residents of the county for many years as owners of cottages at nearby Canadian Lakes. In 2006 they purchased the Tullymore course and the neighboring St. Ives course five miles away.

Ministrelli, also a Detroit native, brings decades of experience and remarkable success in upscale resort golf development. He is responsible for creating some of California's most successful and exclusive desert golf developments, including Artisan in Rancho Mirage, The Reserve in Palm Desert and Villaggio at Indian Wells Country Club in Palm Springs.

Tullymore Golf Club"My brothers and I are emotionally and financially invested in this vision of creating a golf destination and community unlike anything in this part of country", said Richard Marino.

New development and clubhouse signals new opportunities for the area during tough economic times.

The Marinos and Ministrelli have made a huge investment in the region during some tough economic times. The group has invested more than $40 million in the golf courses, housing developments, and clubhouse. Another $10 million is slated to drive construction of a wellness center and spa and the new golf lodges scheduled for groundbreaking in 2009.

This major investment will inject a large amount of economic impact to the area beginning with the new large clubhouse development. It is predicted that the clubhouse, with its banquet facility, restaurant, lounge, and golf shop will not only generate more than $1 million in new revenue for the area's food and beverage sales, it will also create 75 new jobs and a $500,000 payroll for employees, most of whom will be county residents.

In addition, the new clubhouse development will provide permanent jobs for 500-600 persons. Over the next decade another $120 million and 150-175 new jobs will go into development of single family homes, condominiums, retail outlets, recreational facilities, landscaping and architecture as the village rises on the more than 800 acres set aside for the project.

State Rep. Darwin Booher (R-Evart) whose district includes Mecosta County said he is thrilled by the new economic opportunities for the area.

"Considering the economic times, it's a gamble for the developers," he said in a recent interview. "The thing that impressed me the most, however, is that they haven't asked the state for anything. They're doing it all with their own money."
