Ace Classic blog from Pat Long

February 15th -- Not a cloud in the sky at The Quarry, home of the 2011 ACE Classic, in Naples, FL. A slight breeze over the water on Hole #1 greeted the players as they tried out different clubs for their drive in the practice round. A friendly Curtis Strange stopped for pictures and to sign some autographs as he opted to walk down the fairway as his caddy drove the cart. At 1:00 pm fans followed the First Tee Players as they teed off on Hole #16. Loren Roberts was the Pro for Naples in place of Peter Jacobsen while Jay Sigel was the Pro for Philadephia.

Naples won 23--24.
What a pleasure to watch these young people as they played Holes, 16, 17 and 18. They made us proud. Gary Player, as usual, bantered with the fans watching as he practiced his putting.

Come on out, you golfing fans, and watch some good golfing by the Pros at the ACE. The weather is perfect!
