Captain Ron's Tuesday Ace Group Classic Recap

On the Range Tuesday at the Ace Group ClassicAt the Ace Classic Tuesday, I headed for the practice greens and the practice range. Fuzzy Zoeller was there with cigarette blaring. He hit a few balls with a driver and called it a day as the clouds came in and light rain began.

Allen Doyle spent a lot of time working on the low wind ball since the wind was howling in there today at about 20-30 mph. Curtis Strange was pounding out practice balls like the wind wasn't even there.

Bobby Wadkins spent a considerable amount of time working on his wind game and enjoying some conversation with Fuzzy and friends.

Course conditions are spectacular with  multiple tents, trailers, carts, pieces of equipment at the ready. Players, caddies, organizers, and volunteers are all set to go.

Tomorrow starts off with a Pro-Am everyone will love with Lee Trevino on 1A, Paul Azinger 1B, Fred Couples 2A, and Tom Kite 2B at 7:45 a.m.

They are followed on tees 3, 4 , 5, 6 with Ben Crenshaw,  John Cook, Fred Funk and D.A. Weibring respectively.

Afternoon Pro-Am starts off with a  1 p.m. shotgun with 1A Hale Irwin, 1B Peter Jacobsen, 2A Larry Nelson, 2B Craig Stadler and tee 3 Bruce Lietzke and tee 4 Andy Bean.

The field is composed of 81 professionals and the tournament should be one of the most competitive Champions Tour events of the year.
