Skys Clear as Shark Shootout Begins

Editor's Note: This year at the Shark Shootout we're reaching out to our fan base, and have asked a couple of local golfers to give us their impression of the action on and off the course. Below is commentary from Bonita Springs resident Pat Long from Friday's first round.

It's a gorgeous morning on the 9th hole at the Shark Shootout at Tiburon. Clear skies, bright sunshine, light wind and eagles soaring overhead. A great day for the 1st round after yesterday's Pro-Am weather.

Nice shot by Jeff Overton to set up a putt for birdie by Mark Calcavecchia.

Always enjoy watching Jerry Kelly who went to college in Hartford, CT (not far from my home) play well. Steve Stricker sank a nice birdie putt to get the team to 5-under after 9 holes.

Heard fans wondering if Rickie Fowler's outfit could light up the night. Dapper in green and white from his hat to his shoes.

Hoping for another spectacular day tomorrow for the 2nd round of the Shark Shootout.
