Junior Tour Championship Decided by Playoffs for Both Overall Titles

Tess Huber, Jim Leary, PGA, Daniel WhelanATLANTIS - The South Florida PGA Junior Tour presented by the Honda Classic hosted the Tour Championship at Jonathan's Landing at Old Trail in Jupiter, FL this weekend.

Daniel Whalen of Coral Springs claimed his 1st Overall Title of the season on the 3rd playoff hole over Evan DeRoche of Key West.  Both boys shot 147 to make it into the playoff. Coming in 3rd with a 148 was Michael Conforti of Palm Beach Gardens.

In the Girls Overall division, Tess Huber of Port St. Lucie claimed her 2nd title in a row with her playoff win over Claudia De Antonio of Weston. Both girls finished with a two-day score of 159. Jamie Freedman of Miami finished 3rd with a 163.

Jeffrey Cunningham of West Palm Beach ended the season with his 2nd title of the year in the Boys 12-13 division, shooting 72-71-143. Ty Strafaci of Davie finished 2nd with a 72-72-144. Coming in 3rd with a 72-77-149 was Andrew Kozan of Palm Beach Gardens.

In the Girls 12-13 age division, Valeria Sofia claimed her first victory of the season shooting 75-82-157.  Coming in tied for 2nd with scores of 160 were Zora Gittens of Parkland and Story Shaw of West Palm Beach.

The first South Florida PGA Junior Tour event of 2012 will be held February 4-5 at Club Med at Sandpiper Bay. Registration for membership opens January 10, 2012.
