Pro Profile - Tal Buchanan

Tal BuchananThere aren't many people more familiar with the ins and outs of the Southwest Florida scene than Tal Buchanan. For more than three decades Buchanan has worked as a PGA Professional in the Naples area.

Currenlty the head golf and teaching professional at Heritage Bay Golf and Country Club, Buchanan's journey throughout Southwest Florida includes stints at Wilderness Country Club, Spanish Wells, where he spent 20 years as the director of golf, Palm River, Cypress Woods and Arrowhead Golf Club. 

In addition to his work with many of the area's finest clubs, Buchanan has owned and directed two golf schools and was co-owner/director of the West Coast Junior Tour.

As a member of the PGA of America for at least 25 years, Buchanan is a member of the PGA Quarter Century Club. He also served as the Southwest Florida Junior Chairman for 20 years. Awards Buchanan has received over the years include: 17 Southwestern Chapter Junior Leader Awards, two South Florida Section PGA Junior Golf Leader Awards, 1993 Southwestern Florida Chapter PGA Golf Professional of the Year. He was nominated for the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame in 2001.

Born Franklin Talmadge Buchanan, Jr., the longtime PGA professional grew up on the Tennessee side of Bristol, Va. He is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia.

When he's not tending to students and visitors of Heritage Bay, Tal can be found fishing, taking a motorcycle trip, sky diving or rooting for the Atlanta Braves.

Look for Tal in his corner office of the pro shop or on the lesson tee doing what he likes to do best - helping golfers to enjoy the game.
