Sims Wins Four-Way Playoff on West Florida Golf Tour

SARASOTA - Michael Sims claimed his first West Florida Golf Tour victory Tuesday, Oct. 19 in his maiden start on the tour. Sims carded a 4-under 68 to put himself in a four-way playoff with Devin Spies, Travis Hampshire and Kyle Vassel.

All four players managed to par the difficult 18th hole to start the playoff.  On the second playoff hole, both Spies and Sims hit their approach shots close. Sims was able to convert his eight footer for birdie and watched as playoff veteran, Spies' putt slide just over the edge.

Rounding out the top five was Sam Osborne who just missed the playoff after a strong finish, coming in with five birdies in the last eight holes, ending with a 3-under-par 69.

The West Florida Golf Tour would like to thank the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club for hosting the event and providing a great course set-up for the players.

The course proved to be a great test, playing long and challenging at 7,400 yards plus. The WFGT would also like to thank the presenting sponsor, Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota, for coming out and being part of the event.  The West Florida Golf Tour plays again this Friday at Laurel Oak.
