Sun Cup Amateur Golf Tournament To Bring Economic Boost to SW Florida.

Ft. Myers, Fl - An area's future that looked as bright as a young Tiger Woods' career, has been hit hard by the real estate crash.  The once thriving construction area, like many parts of the country, has seen little development in the past two years.  This may all change come April 30th.

The Sun Cup, “Southwest Florida's premier amateur golf tournament” will make its inaugural debut on April 30th through May 4th.  The Flighted, Full Handicapped event, will be held over five days with twelve of the areas top rated courses being highlighted.  The final championship round will be held at the world renowned Jack Nicklaus Signature masterpiece, Old Corkscrew in Estero, Fl.  The course has been utilized by many touring pros to shape their game in the off season.

An event expected to draw upwards of 500 players in its inaugural year, The Sun Cup is projected by economists to inject 1.5 to 3 million dollars into the local economies.

With growing entries, new active sponsors being signed daily and a large exhibition show being held nightly during the week of the event, The Sun Cup's future looks to be a bright one.
